Airport Alert
Livermore Airport to Increase
Commercial Activity and more Jets
On Monday July 14, the Livermore City
Council will discuss and vote on reassigning the FBO
lease for Sierra Academy to Seaward Holdings. In the
past Sierra Academy has run a flight school out of the
FBO, Seaward Holdings plans on using the FBO to provide
on-demand executive JET CHARTER SERVICE.
Full Staff report:
http://64.165.218.12/weblink7/DocView.aspx?id=62083
The Council can be anticipated to
justify this action by assuring us this does not violate
past promises as this is not “scheduled, but on-demand
charter services”.
As the Council has refused to remove
references of AIR CARGO from the Minimum Standards (as
promised at the June 26, 2007 Council meeting), we
should anticipate this service also being approved in
the future as the Council continues its quest to expand
services and operation at the airport.
Livermore Council Meeting July 14th,
2008 at 7 pm will discuss this item.
THIS IS NOT OVER.

Livermore Airport Management APPROVED: "MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR COMMERCIAL AVIATION ACTIVITIES":
Rezone our Airport to a COMMERCIAL Aviation Airport (no longer the
Educational Recreational zoning it is today.)
Build several
Jet Fueling Stations, open 24 hours. (fueling will no longer
run by our City, but by Jet Fueling Stations. AND Livermore cannot
limit the amount of Stations, THAT would be discrimination!)
With the Increase in Commercial Activity, they will
promote and attract more Jets.
Plans include Developing
10 Acres of Fixed Base Operators
(FBOs) (this development will be like
a Strip Mall for Commercial Aviation Businesses (FBOs))
Lease to Aviation Service Businesses, such as engine repair,
avionics, charter, cargo services (Livermore cannot choose or
discriminate what types of
businesses it
leases to.)
Build Large Hangers -over 25,000 Sq foot size Hangers for
maintenance / jet repair)! (these large hangers are
NOT
for our recreational pilots on the waiting list!)
Attract more Jet and Transient traffic (the 1000, mostly recreational planes
currently at LVK, can't support this Large Planned Aviation
Strip Mall, so the FBO will advertise and attract business)
Plan to build Luxury Jet Hangers (for Corporate and Commuter Jets)
Plans includes Beverage and Food Galley Services (for Passenger and Pilot waiting
rooms for Transient Planes and more Charter Services)
Will an FBO reduce NOISE? An FBO will need to attract
aircraft to stay in business. Most FBOs today are Jetports.
Livermore City Council Loses All
Capability to Restrict Types of Operations, once approved.

The motion carried on a 5-0 vote as summarized below. Feb 28, 2005

- Operate the airport in such a way as to promote the reduction of noise below current levels.
- Emphasize consistency between the improvements at the Livermore Municipal Airport and the General Plan policies as it relates to noise reduction goals.
- Continue to operate the Livermore Municipal Airport as an unsubsidized and self-sustaining public enterprise in a safe and efficetn manner.
- participate in Federal lobbying efforts to legislate the phase-out of high noise producing aircraft.
- Identify noise abusers.
- Improve customer service procedures in taking and responding to complaints.
- Conduct more aggressive outreach program to pilots.
C. Existing 1976 Mater Plan to remain in effect.
D. Staff to report to Council Quarterly on these items and include cost analysis relative cost options. The City Council has only received two quaterly reports. They have not asked for any more to this date.
On Jan 31, 2005 special city council meeting there was a discussion between Mayor Kamena and the airport manager, Leander Hauri. This discussion is about hangars inducing growth (more operations). With each operation comes noise.

More operations means more noise and air pollution! It is
" LOUD " and CLEAR there will be more noise and pollution if there are more hangars built of any kind!
Read current legislation California State Bill AB2501.
AB 2501 . This bill was initiated and passed due to the toxic Jet emissions at the Santa Monica Airport. Santa Monica has one runway and can take Jets as large as the type that land at Livermore Airport. Gulfstream IV. Santa Monica is a Jetport and has more than 18,000 operations a year. Toxic subtances such as NOx (Nitrogen Oxide), CO (Carbon Monoxide) and PM10 (Particulate Matter with a diameter less than or equal to 10 microns.) are left in the air from Jet emissions for Santa Monica residents to breath. Health is a grave concern. If Livermore Airport is allowed to become a Jetport, then we too will have this toxic substance in our air we breath and black soot that will cover everything as well as the smell of kerosene in our neighborhoods.
Read about Santa Monica Airport Jet air pollution here.
